Virgo Compatibility 101: What It’s Like To Be In A Relationship With This Zodiac Sign

Ever wonder who you’re meant to be with? Well, the stars have some say. According to astrology, your sign’s bound to be more compatible with certain signs than others.

If you’re a Virgo, you’ve come to the right place. Whether you’re wondering if you should take your crush out on a date or maybe you’re questioning if your partner is willing to commit, the cosmos are already putting in the work to put the right people in your path.

“Virgo is ruled by mercury, the planet of the mind,” says astrologer Valerie Mesa. “This sign is practical, resourceful, and is known for precision and attention to detail.”

Because Mercury plays such a huge role, Virgos are all about intellectual attraction and practical actions. And Venus, the planet of love, dictates exactly how Virgos romance. They swoon for the lovey-dovey stuff as much as the next person, but they’re not sticking around unless they feel secure. Virgos need their partners to show them how they feel, simply telling them isn’t enough. They’re the kinds who’ll believe it when they see it because when it comes to love, says Mesa, “acts of service is most definitely [Virgos’] love language.”

Below, find everything you need to know about Virgos in relationships, the three signs they’re most romantically compatible with, and the one sign that is probably better off as a friend.

What it’s like to be with a Virgo:

Being with this meticulous earth sign can be quite the experience since “[Virgos] have an eye for the details, so they tend to make their lovers swoon with their specially-curated gestures,” she says. Got a thing for mystery reads? A Virgo is the kind of lover who’ll have list of recs for you the next time you see them.

On the flipside, the type of partner they’re attracted to is someone loyal, devoted, and understands their ways of love. And they’re not fans of people who can’t commit, whether to them or an opinion. Wishy-washy people, be warned.

“[Virgo’s] love language, is more hands-on and practical than romantic,” Mesa adds. If a Virgo is with someone who doesn’t appreciate thoughtful gestures or their partner’s love language isn’t aligned with theirs, it would make Virgos feel insecure.

You might find that being with a Virgo feels nice because they are protective in nature. “. Those born under this mutable earth sign are constantly looking for ways to make the world a better place, and their partner’s life is no exception,” says Mesa. They’re the kind of people to pick up on their partner’s quirks and routines so they can better accommodate them. Making a loved one feel secure is just as important to a Virgo as their own comfort.

  • Scorpio

Meet the most passionate and mysterious water sign in the zodiac. Typically, water and earth signs are a great match because, as Mesa mentions, “[Virgos] can’t help but feel haunted and attracted to Scorpios’ enigmatic lure and emotional whirlpool.” A Virgo sign likes the challenge of having to figure someone out.

And while these signs are rooted in different elements (Virgo in earth and Scorpio in water), they balance each other out. These elements get along excellently since “the chemistry [between both signs] is sexy and intriguing,” she adds.

  • Capricorn

Capricorns and Virgos are a harmonious match since they’re both earth signs, and “they’re both equally as loyal and committed to one another,” Mesa says. Virgo’s highly-attentive nature is compatible with Capricorn’s vibe because they are both driven people. Nothing turns a Virgo on as much as having someone to reach their goals with.

  • Cancer

“[Cancer] is naturally empathic and intuitive to the needs of others, which is why they resonate so much with Virgo’s energy,” says Mesa. Both of these signs constantly consider their partner’s needs.

They bring each other comfort, she adds. “As Virgos are all about the mind, Cancers compliment their energy with just getting them on an intuitive level and it flows very well,” Mesa explains.

Earth and air signs don’t always mesh well. “Because of [Aquarius’] rebellious and changeable nature, this can make Virgos feel uncomfortable,” says Mesa. Yes, the attraction between these two signs can be mutual, but that may not be enough for the romantic spark Virgo is looking for.

Aquarius is a fixed air sign, meaning those born under it “prefer to do things their way and they typically prefer to take the unconventional route, too,” she says. With unbalanced personalities and Aquarius’ mixed signals, these two signs are most likely not a good match. “Virgos would have trouble with the thought of investing and committing to something that doesn’t feel secure,” adds Mesa. So, while a long-term romance between these two signs isn’t exactly written in the stars, a friendship is still in the cards.
